Right now the chief concern amongst Trump right wing oddball media is that Biden is going to be pronounced dead and Harris will turn out to have been president all along. They're wrong, of course, and the left has Kamala pegged much more accurately than they do. But, interesting.

it's kind of a sight to behold. She built her reputation doing Clinton era tough on crime because she thought that's how the wind was blowing. Then she made a bunch of empty commitments to Medicare for All and GND post 2016 because she thought that's how the wind was blowing.

Kamala Harris has achieved this wild political triangulation where the right abhors her and fears her replacing Biden bc of all the left-wing stuff she said she liked and the left abhors her and fears her replacing Biden bc of all the right-wing stuff she actually did in office.

So I took a look at why Katie Porter got bumped from the Financial Services Committee, based on the makeup of the committee and the legislative output in the last Congress. It's very clear she was singled out and Maxine Waters is to blame. (1/)

Yglesias is insulated by an army of online centrists but pretty hard to say this is correct.

To my point, Democrats are not going to be able to go into senate races in WI, PA, NC and say, we are a party that gets results, we got this great tax break largely (but not only!) for rich people in CA and NY. Gonna have to produce something else.

lot of "decency" defenders coming out of the woodwork here. this is the conversation the DSCC is literally having. this isn't lost on them. they had no business winning two specials in GA and they know that anticorruption and checks made the difference.

In WI, it's progressive Tom Nelson vs Bucks' billionaire owner son who just cut in line for a covid shot Alex Lasry. In NC, it's Cunningham carbon copy Jeff Jackson vs progressive WOC Erica Smith. In PA, it's hopefully Fetterman (unless DSCC intervenes).

Of course, the was never asked to atone for its exceptional failures bc it was bailed out by Georgia's shock result. But it's already time for them, and new chair to decide again: will they put the thumb on the scale for proven losers?

The fate of the Senate is still up for grabs, with power sharing, filibuster, DC statehood. 2022's races are an equally significant factor. Democrats can and must win in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina or they'll actually lose the chamber forever.

In 2020, Democrats ran two separate Senate strategies side-by-side. One: rich, white carpetbagging moderates (Sara Gideon, Cal Cunningham, Teresa Greenfield) failed spectacularly. The other: anti-corruption, populism, $2k checks (Ossoff, Warnock) won.

Here's on the early jockeying for position in 2022 Senate races. Will Schumer and the Dems pick more self-funders or stand-for-nothing candidates, or lean into the Ossoff/Warnock victories predicated on populism and organizing?
