apparently russia has this meme where they @ elon musk in pictures of super stupid bootleggy lifehacky "inventions" captioned "and how do you like this, elon musk?" so as it turns out, no one is better at memes than the russians

Got a chance to spend a good chunk of time chatting individually with over 20 of our teachers this last week. No two districts, schools, teachers, classrooms or students are the same. The need for differentiation is the only constant.

Humans are NOT wired to think or act that way, but we can move past our primal urge to constantly rep our team in favor of a more logical and factual decision.

I suspect it's not easy to cultivate a culture of exploratory thinking in one's organization, but it's a noble goal nonetheless.

    - big fan of this concept. Seems important to understand and master for individuals and groups who are committed to making optimal decisions, not just signaling tribal allegiance to their club of choice.

Is there a site out there that lets me post used items for sale on multiple sites at the same time? i.e. Ebay + Craigslist + + Facebook marketplace + Amazon + Letgo + 5Miles + OfferUp? Like a tweetdeck for selling used stuff. Managing inventory across multiple sites is a PITA.

If you notice something at your company below standards and don't fix it or make sure someone else does, you have set a new standard. Complaining about it does not count as fixing it. If someone gets upset/tells you to stay in your lane, they've set an even worse new standard.

How can one contribute to the dialogue in this vitriolic age without making things worse? Discuss principles, not people. Attack ideas, not individuals.

Here's how "SMS Intercept" works in practice. *Anyone* walks into *any* retail cellular store in the world, tells an employee to move *your* number to a new SIM. The employee *verifies* that person. Your SMSs now go to a new phone. That's just one way.

The advantage of making an extreme prediction over and over, occasionally you look like genius since almost nobody goes back and does the accounting. Return on investment: You can ride that one time you’re “right” for a long time.

Netflix is one of the few companies that has successfully pivoted its core business not once but twice: 1) Pivot from DVD by mail to streaming (~2007) 2) Pivot from relying on third-party content to original content (~2015)

I’m pretty sure 99% of my political leanings come from having lived in the Soviet Bloc. The rose-colored glasses Americans have about the USSR are pretty incredible.
