Barricades have fallen to the west of the White House and the crowd is surging forward, once again coming face-to-face with Secret Service who’ve moved into formation and raised their riot shields—a few stained yellow from eggs just thrown.pic.twitter.com/B0AMIk8aMZ

Here’s a tour of H St. There’s a discernible hot zone confined to the northeast corner of Lafayette around the dumpster fire. Air is peppery there. H & 16th saw plenty of bottles thrown but it’s somewhat calmed. Exit routes are west or east, where the street is mostly deserted.pic.twitter.com/kXdOAgEz9k

The DC National Guard are officially in Lafayette Park. Several dozen guardsmen with military police inscribed on their riot shields have linked up with the park police.pic.twitter.com/EP6RLdSwbM – at The White House

An SUV has been set alight at the intersection of Connecticut Ave. and I Street, a block over from Lafayette Park. Police flushed everyone out with flashbangs. Flames spread to a tree and a small structure on the sidewalk. DC Fire has an engine on it.pic.twitter.com/e3HL6SP3cI – at Farragut Square

Another firework went off near I and 16th. This one was big, blew up almost on top of me. I’m backing off. People were smashing windows in the area, it’s getting mighty violent and I’m hearing a lot of booms coming from the direction of K St.pic.twitter.com/vtusLPBzEW – at Lafayette Square Park

Police upped their use of flashbangs at H & 16th and with fears abound of a kettling operation, practically everyone left made a run for it. Fire alarms are ringing at the Chamber of Commerce, bricks are being lobbed at windows all around me.pic.twitter.com/MtC3nRSWwb

I’ve been hearing glass shattering all night coming from north of the White House. Making my way out of here and I’m seeing why. A lot of broken windows between Lafayette and Farragut squares and the sidewalks are littered with chunks of stone.pic.twitter.com/oDh4lYogej

This’ll be my last update for tonight. I’ve been on assignment for over 12 hours and after months in quarantine, two days of nonstop running hasn’t been easy on me. That said, I’m still hearing bangs and yelling from Lafayette. This is far from over. Sweet dreams, America.
