It’s something I’ve spent a lot of thinking on. See also: how incel and PUA are the two possible progressions of the Nice Guy once he’s given in to his bitterness at a lack of perceived success.

Yes. I don't know a WHOLE lot about this, but I totally agree. This is why I have such a visceral disdain for that whole "nice guy" schtick. They are masking a deep-seated and violent misogyny that many of them will eventually act on.

Ding. And part of what makes the Nice Guy so dangerous is that they often are acting in good faith: they actually believe the Nice Guy narrative because that’s what society has taught them.

I feel like their "nice" is usually just dated notions of what "good women" are supposed to want. And they see everything as an "exchange." They give a woman something, whether she wants it or not, and the woman is supposed to give him WHATEVER he wants in return.

Yup! And part of what is terrifying is they do so with no malice. It’s just the way things are/should be to them. But once they realize that’s not how thing work but they don’t have the self-awareness to consider that maybe they have been part of the problem... >

they either decide to gamify the “system” - the PUA - or reject it with extreme prejudice, espcecially the women they see as the part that has failed to live up to what they were promised - the incel.
