Single Page Apps (SPAs) currently do not report Core Web Vitals per these "soft navigations". We're experimenting at changing that. Sites can get involved with an origin trial from Chrome 110.

I love when people address criticism like this 👍
During one year:
• TTFB from 2s to 0.3s
• LCP from 4.6s to 1.6s
• Good CLS & interactivity
Making a Shopify alternative with #webperf in mind is a great idea, but actually delivering on the goal is a solid achievement 👏

He also shared a link which showed real world performance data of one Dukaan and two Shopify stores.

ChatGPT is mind-blowing at explaining patterns 🤯
I asked it to describe random Amazon links:
• goldbox –> daily deals
• full book title from a URL
• correct extra details about a product
• understanding "the latest" context without any hint in the URL

I tried to run ChatGPT on a minified version of web-vitals.js
It produced the exact names from the public source.

ChatGPT knows #webperf optimizations. It also explains changes.
I would never consider the second example, but it makes sense. Trigger async scripts loading and start to render the body quickly.

I tried out new ChatGPT by OpenAI, threw at it all kind of queries. We are probably just 2-3 yrs away when these models can answer majority of search queries *much* better than classical search engines. This is one of the biggest leaps in info-retri/syn.

Here's the state of Core Web Vitals across some countries:
• 41.4% of origins pass CWV
• LCP is the main issue globally
• CLS doesn't follow LCP/FID #webperf

Hover over an issue and see an element directly, update an order, and see results live.

I use CT as a bookmark.
It's a simple ON/OFF button to analyze <HEAD> for any website. Because it's written with CSS, it's easy to modify and live debugging.

CT by is an incredible #webperf tool.
Improve page loading performance just by reordering the <head> tag.
It detects render-blocking resources and shows an optimal order.
It became essential for me, and it's written with CSS (genius!)

I'm incredibly excited about this!
With soft navigations, INP, and CLS – web performance goes well beyond initial page loading.

Someone started to abuse Treo's free Site Speed tool, fetching 1000s of domains with bots.
It's been a matter of time. And it shows why we can't have nice things :(

A question to #webperf community: how do you optimize LCP for a search page?
The pattern for a complex search page is that it shows a spinner while a server is searching. Results could be delayed for 5-10 seconds. It's expected by a user and good UX, but LCP is poor.

Excellent thread about Europe's electricity grid. It's a complex topic behind rising prices. The core components are:
• aging infrastructure
• ideology driven policies
• fear of nuclear
• 2022 challenges of gas supply and drought.
Worth a read ↓

Let's talk electricity.
Europe is in danger of rolling electricity shortages from what I call a crisis of confidence.
I will explain why, back it with data & kindly ask YOU to share it as the fix lies in voting for balanced policies. We must adapt, urgently!
