Reminder: while this climate bill has many upsides, its housing provisions suck. Eg, on tax rebates for home efficiency upgrades, law only *encourages* states to target low- & moderate-income homes. Most will likely go to moderate. And yet advocates say this is all EJ funding 🤦🏻‍♂️

It is in fact not too late to dramatically improve the housing section of this bill. Given the outrageous harms done to EJ communities throughout IRA and the political process, it's striking how many of the pro-EJ bill sweeteners are... not really sweeteners.

Tfw Dems plan to door-knock at ppl's homes in 22 and 24 on this climate bill, but have put less than less 3% of the spending into... literal homes. (And far less into poor and working class homes, esp BIPOC.) Years of struggles ahead to cement a housing + climate justice agenda.
