Impostor syndrome, Even when you accepted that you will no be able to understand everything, it is quite hard to honestly outcome the negative emotion. I don't know what I am doing And I know it will take me months of failures

    - Big programs - Few usages of external components - Embrace the BEAM as the platform - Lean on DevOps tooling - Small programs - Heavy usage of external components - Embrace diversity of technology as the platform - Heavy on DevOps tooling

It is interesting to me the different incentives between and on how you build software and structure your organization. : monolithic environment : distributed environment

Is anyone out there can point me in the right direction in How do you create a CLI in Go that allows you to inject commands to it? I am confused about how people achieve this today.

I used to believe that people should focus on a particular language. But there is so much value in the diversity between communities behind the programming languages that I can only recommend to learn and participate in different communities as much as you can

Seems like the first question from every dev is "where are my extensions", that flag on the left bottom side and the fact one can use chrome store is not very visible and needs fixing if you want adoption from developers.

Tried to clarify a bit here. We *should* avoid confusing people, but let’s not remove the ladders.

Do we need to present information in an accessible way? Yes. Share knowledge without confusing people by implicit assumptions? Yes! Do people have different learning preferences? Of course! Are some of the people we teach just as — and more — intelligent than us? Absolutely.

At some point we as a community started infantilizing the beginners. “Beginners will misunderstand/misuse your advice”, etc. Beginners aren’t stupid! They are plenty capable for understanding nuance. Give them more credit. Infantilizing is just another form of gatekeeping.

One example of such config could be: Explain wrong behavior to the user 3 times. After 3 warnings start removing any comment made by that user and block them from the project.

Someone should write a bot for github that enforces a behavior system: 1. Maintainer installs the bot 2. Maintainer or other people can give a hint about a misbehaving user 3. Bot warns the user and maintains behavior info about user 4. Maintainer can setup what needs to happen.

Also, end up with a system where we can figure out a way to fix this problem in the OSS community 🤔 How that pipeline could look like? Should we have a way to hire people to help others with misbehavior?

It’s a touch ironic to respond confrontationally w/ the argument “be considerate”. But okay. In hindsight, I overreacted (bc of hidden context). It’s telling tho, bc our industry has a problem w/ toxicity. I still think we should be mindful of that when making jokes on Twitter.

The people writing code that you find to be annoying or suboptimal are human, and deserve to be treated with respect. Not shamed because you got mildly annoyed reading array.reduce
