Historical counterfactuals are not always obvious: "Our results suggest that these and other anti-TB measures can explain, at most, only a small portion of the overall decline in pulmonary TB mortality observed during the period under study. "

This is huge. Will go a long way in normalizing nullifications of obviously fraudulent elections. This is not a magic bullet against election rigging. But it raises the cost of rigging. And that's a good thing. The next steps will be crucial for .

Bottom line: not much matters, except the width of the slider bounds. Wider slider bounds seem to nudge people towards larger estimates, and this isn't an artifact of some estimates being censored with narrow slider bounds because the estimates are larger throughout.

Gonna say it again: The single most helpful sentence in understanding what's actually known is at the forecaster: "In 80% of simulations, [Sanders] wins between 12% and 43% of the vote." And similar spreads for the others.

This interview w is so good! I'm basically the opposite of a macroeconomist but I found the entire convo super interesting. We're so lucky that Claudia can go on podcasts now that she's left the Fed. :) Thx for having her on!

I feel like a lot of US citizens don’t quite get how hard it is to get an immigrant visa even if you are super qualified—many friends/family have struggled w the H1-B lottery or spent months applying for an O1 or got denied entry even though they have MIT degrees/great jobs/etc

Ah yes, I'm very worried about CGD's funding from the UK, Australia, Norway, and Canada! (I understand concerns around foreign policy influence by countries with their own agendas, but come on, this graphic is ridiculous.)

Completely agree that party divides will shrink between contested primaries and the general election. THAT SAID, even the defection rates we're seeing in matchups right now would (if they hold) be low relative to the levels we saw in 2008 and 2016.

Wow I think this is the best evidence I’ve see for Lant’s critique that development institutions are focusing too much on micro evidence and interventions.

Super interesting finding by Adrien Bilal (): Regional differences in unemployment rates (in both US & France) is *almost all* b/c of different rates of job separation (firing & quits). Rates at which unemployed workers *find* jobs are very similar across regions.
