I'm psyched to point out that this includes ~1 PiB of *atmospheric* ERA5 data (in model-levels), already converted to Zarr.

Interesting! Do you know if the usage statistics will be communicated back to ECWMF? The number of users is an important metric to determine the “value” of these (expensive to produce) data sets, and I would assume helps justify funding for ERA-next…

Cool, looks like it will good for spatial analysis done in Google’s cloud. A few years ago, I made a service that makes it easier to access ERA5 in time series format shinyweatherdata.com. Also open-meteo.com is nice for accessing ERA5 data
