    Also the famous saying by the 13-century theologian Ibn Taymiyyah: “God stands with a just state even if it’s not Muslim, and against the unjust state even if it’s Muslim.”

    This is very true and important. And this is why what we Muslims need is not dictatorial states that champion Islam; but liberal-democratic states that secure freedom & justice.
