Ive always been against kangaroo shooting. Its cruel, the animals are displaced by agriculture, their numbers cannot be accurately counted & we use their image for tourism & national pride. Add the current fire season & its obvious shooting kangaroos should end.

I'm very resistant to media panic, & have no idea what the real situation is, but these videos are the epitome of dystopian. A wake up call to human society about food/lifestyle hygiene & values: no one is immune from a pandemic, but almost all of us can choose plant based diet.

If you have anti vaxers in your circle, this is a great fact based thread about why the MMR hysteria is completely unscientific and extremely dangerous. When it comes to vaccines, people should stick with religion for their non scientific belief needs.

Honest truth, I have no interest in visiting the US (ever). And this infrastructure issue is the main reason. Never understood how they could neglect something to significant.

I had a rat when I was 16. Nancy became a central member of our family and showed very clearly that there was no difference in relationship capacity to that of a dog. She was most definitely conscious of her world.

You simply can’t turn your back on profit driven industry. There will always be those who cut corners & defy regulations. ‘Koala massacre' feared in Victoria's south-west

Best example of team work I have ever seen. Also funniest thing I've seen this week, just in time for the Friday arvo slump.

"Make ban on Chinese wildlife markets permanent - Actually, make it permanent everywhere. We cant predict which animal, in what country, this will happen. And its always happened, but not at same rate or same risks (global transportation). "

This is a self interested industry keen to jump into the ashes and take what they can. What ever is there, what is left, needs to regenerate. It is obviously already as 'thinned' as possible thanks to wild fires

“We cut the trees; we kill the animals or cage them & send them to markets. We disrupt ecosystems, & we shake viruses loose from their natural hosts. When that happens, they need a new host. Often, we are it.” Brilliant article

Just like to say, firefighter union possibly most difficult protest group for riot police to face. What with their courage, determination, fitness, strength, protective uniforms and ... oh ... their masks.

The only thing not exhausted by an issue thanks to the media's 24hr news cycle of panic promotion is the dry earth and scrub that continues to burn. matters, & flu viruses, but this damage and smog?

No wonder dogs and humans get along so well 😂

Its not anthropomorphism to recognise that non human animals have strong emotional bonds, like dogs or cats to human carers, and to each other. We understand very little about this, perhaps because our choices make it confronting.

People dont want to know how much of their own life choices impact dogs like these. They are forgetting that a little challenge & change means feeling pretty good about your life choices because you arent part of this cycle of sadness.

Small steps are big steps for those affected. The reason why it can be phased out, not just why it should be, is central to understanding the practicalities of moving away from intensive animal agriculture.
