Yes you can totally drop turnips anywhere (outside or in house) and they will stay there just fine. My upper floor is just turnip storage right now. Just make sure you sell them before the following week or they rot. (Rotten turnips do attract certain bugs as well just fyi)
Dumb question about turnips. If you have a bunch but you’re harvesting things can you drop your turnips in your house and will they be there when you get back? Is there a better way to manage the space vs turnips relationship?

Some people incorporate turnips to their town by making a farm area, so there are options to make storing them fit an anesthetic too. I just don't think you can straight put them in house storage

I wouldn't recommend just dropping turnips in the middle of your house, someone might trip. Pop them in a plastic storage container or the like. I don't think they need to be refrigerated. Do you have a farm or something that you have so many turnips? /jokeover.

You can make a cute little "turnip" farm somewhere on your island so it still looks like decor. I've seen people make an area where an orchard and a turnip farm are side by side.

Double check bc turnips can spoil if not placed in a safe spot. House is safe and I THINK fenced in areas.
