Sitting here listening to my stereo and feeling the bass notes vibrating through my couch I’m wondering what it’s like to hear music as a def person. I can play my unplugged bass and “hear” the notes through vibration if I snuggled the base against my chest. Is it like that?

I'm going to make a somewhat educated guess that you can only hear the notes if you have a less disabling deafness that keeps the conversion intact (if there's such a thing). What we percieve as sound is a conversion from kinetic energy (air vibrations) to nerve impulses...
Fair. I don’t know anyone who is hearing impaired. I know I’ve seen them at concerts so I know there’s something. That experience is really interesting to me. So much of what I understand is a combination of sensory inputs. I would like to know what it feels like for them.

I read on reddit of a dude that loved to go to dance concerts and get close to the speakers, that way he could feel a lot of vibrations on his body. It's pretty cool.
