In the real world all of this stuff matters a lot to people whose lives depend on unit cohesion, morale, and operational readiness. None of his platitudes address the fact there are lifestyles totally incompatible with military service.

Yeah, people who hate or disrespect their fellow service members, who can't work with them professionally and tolerantly, don't belong in the military. That's the incompatible "lifestyle".
