People are using #TweetYourThobe in honor of Rashida Tlaib. She's the first Palestinian-American woman to serve in Congress. Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are also rejoicing.pic.twitter.com/ueCCQGNZJZ

I hope Tlaib remembers that her job is to represent her fellow American citizens, specifically those of Michigan, before she attempts to represent Palestinian people all over the world.

It will never happen. She's making it very clear her first and foremost representation is to Palestinian people. #Michigan is screwed. Do better Michigan. Voter her out next election.https://twitter.com/AmyMek/status/1080866271439347712 …

“We’re going to go in and impeach the motherfucker” Does this make Palestinian-Americans proud? Just curious. If you have evidence our @POTUS should be impeached by all means, let's hear what you've got but this has absolutely no class for the office you were hired for.

Yes, it does. Did you ever notice how the Irish are happy when someone with Irish ancestry makes President? (They don’t have to get excited about House or Senate anymore because it’s so common.) You have quite a double standard or a thimble-shallow knowledge of US history.

Under similar circumstances, a Jewish member would be accused of dual loyalty, but @RashidaTlaib is celebrated for her ethnic and religious assertiveness. Interesting how there are ethnicities/religions that are "in" and those that are "out".

The statements are disturbing. We don’t need people representing other countries IN our government. We can have supporters of other nations, but not representatives. They represent our people of the US.

So, do you represent America or Palestine? where do your true loyalties reside? No one can be a "Palestinian-American" because there is no such place or people. Remember this is the United States. Do you think you are serving in the Palestinian Congress, or the American Congress?pic.twitter.com/VwVdpHu3Xz

Exactly. And to see the tweets and videos of support. It scares the sh*it out of me. When did it become cool to be anything but a proud American patriot? How did we allow this to happen to our country?

My mother came to this country from Mexico in the 1960’s. I remember as a grade schooler asking my Mom about Mexico and why she did not teach me Spanish. She said “I came here to be an American and that’s what I am now and what you are.” That always stuck with me.
