    New challenge for you & :)

    I decided that this year, every day, I would knit a row on a scarf to mark the corresponding daily temperature/weather of my town. It felt like a good way to engage with the changing climate and with the changing year. A way to notice and not look away. Here's January then.

    One of the nicest things about working in animation is getting to witness artists like & work their magic every day.... and then taking their picture when they didn't really want it.... and then tweeting that picture because that's how I roll godammit!

    I got a lil distracted and couldn't keep the New Zealand updates going! In the airport now to arrive home for Christmas Eve! It has been pretty epic. I'll leave yous with some pics from Conical Hill on the Routeburn trail. You could not wipe the smile off my face here! 💙

    Sunday started out with shocking weather! Lashing rain! I was all set for a cosy day of chilling but was encouraged otherwise and very glad of it. Took a little spin to Wharariki beach!

    From Havelock I made my way towards Takaka in Golden Bay! More incredible views along the coast but not many opportunities for photos. The roads are intense around these parts!

    Saturday was a big driving day! I'd read about the road between Havelock and Picton being pretty. It had just reopened after a rock fall so off I went! It's called the the Queen Charlotte drive and I'd love to know what she did to have something so pretty named after her!

    There was lots of wildlife around; quail, moorhens and rabbits! This lil cutie was hanging around near where I set up! I didn't want to get too close, hence the grainy photo. It eventually skarpered with it's lil fluffy butt in the air! Too cute!🐰

    I did however drive both ends of the route where the roads were sealed. This led me to discover a cute wee campground in Whatamango Bay where I set up the tent for the night!

    Another traveller had told me about a beautiful scenic road to take north of Blenheim. He said the road wasn't great and it turned out to be a pretty poor gravel track. I thought better of it in a rental car!

    I drove North towards Picton without any real plan. The roads are very beautiful but very winding and dangerous so there weren't many opportunities for photos.

    After my wee ramble, and some excellent roadside sorbet, I hit the road again. Stopped for groceries en route and this dude pulled up beside me!! (Btw all of these photos are just crappy phone ones that do strange things to colours!! This isn't California!)

    Best thing about this walk?? Flippin fur seals! The phrase should be 'a seal's life' not 'a dog's life.' These dudes were chill as fuck and were barely phased by the tourists who got waaay too close.
