I also know more futurists who predicted the failure of blockchain and bitcoin then those who listened to us coding it...

I know more futurists who didnt even get “Open Source” let alone it’s massive disruptive impact on distribution methods then engineers who write kernel drivers

We need to be real here people, what does a futurist do? What’s there role? And if they could not predict OSS and Bitcoin then come on... come on.. (as an Aussie once said)

And yes maybe the best use of a futurist is telling me and other engineers how badly we spell... I’ll add we can automate that :P

Now seriously I am actually awaiting someone to correct me? Because even my honours research on web navigation was more future proof then futurist concepts on subject as my prediction actually occurred :=

Maybe we should stop just going “oh the engineer” and realise that “the engineer” is actually the futurist? Just a thought and who knows I’m just a a kid from Mt Druitt at the end of the day ;)

One time I was sitting at a @linuxfoundation event opposite the gentleman who started HP OpenSource labs, now there was a futurist that no one will ever hear about who helped create our current industry

In technology considering the pace at which me move, can we even accomodate futurists when 12months in modern software is legacy code and practices ?

Like as in the term “futurist” was more adapt in 60/70/80/90 when we are building on so much before us does it matter? And I’m being serious I simply don’t know hence my questions?
