Was apprehensive about 's as big fan of 1935 MGM version (esp. W.C. Fields as Micawber, Basil Rathbone as Murdstone) but really loved it, superly cast and executed. Can't recall a more joyous moment than Mr Dick flying his Charles I kite

is a great film, Dev Patel is the complete movie star but every other character in it is also a star. Pure imagination and emotion unleashed, heaped with unforgettable images, it reminded me what cinema can be

A spot-on review of Armando Ianucci’s wonderful, quietly radical, incredibly funny Personal History of David Copperfield from here. A big hit at this weekend, don’t miss it

It’s a complete triumph, & its wholly successful use of colour-blind casting will change the nature of film-making. has tinkered with Dickens’ story, but he’s so true to his spirit it doesn’t matter. This is a glorious witty warm-hearted must-see movie. (I liked it.)
