So much +1 for this. New grad or still in college? This course can jumpstart you to the real world.

I observe people starting to write books for some new Google Cloud products while they're still in private alpha or beta, and they're just 'using' the product. Is summarizing and paraphrasing the documentation really worth the effort just to release a book?

I've got way too many random projects in-flight. Each of them are small net-positives, but none of them are big enough. So I'm often left with the constant feeling of not accomplishing anything significant. Advice?

Cloud Run is built on open source APIs. That's why it can run serverless on Google’s infrastructure, or on your Kubernetes clusters. This article takes shows you hands-on how this API portability works:

Is anyone using this package on Kubernetes to implement leader election or active-passive in their apps?

I hate to do this but: when I get a huge patch out of nowhere to an OSS project I maintain, I will most certainly reject that patch right away. If you find yourself doing this: 1. let maintainers know you want to work on it 2. propose a design/user experience 3. start coding

I'm surprised no cloud provider offers a Memcached/Redis service that charges on actual amount used (as opposed to instance memory/hr). Many serverless apps could benefit from a cache with serverless pricing model even if it was low-throughput or multi-tenant.

just lowered the price of their T4 by more than 60%. This is interesting because now a virtual workstation costs around the same as an on-prem one. Here's my reasoning, take a look and discuss (a thread):

Which Kubernetes extensions/operators register CRD APIs that actually work with "kubectl explain"? So far I'm seeing none. Is there a problem with submitting OpenAPI definitions for Kubernetes CRDs?

I moved all of my personal projects from a small GKE cluster to Cloud Run and my daily cost has gone from ~£1.50 to 1-2p per day 😻 I’ve also 10Xed my usage of other APIs in this time with a new project, but it’s pretty much invisible!

After much deliberation we're finally closing on a logo design for the Krew project: It symbolizes tentacles of kubectl's cuttlefish cuddling a package. :)

Nice article listing missing pieces in Kubernetes core to make on-prem clusters work like GKE etc. On the flip side, these are the same challenges we solve while bringing GKE to on-prem with Anthos.
