I’m running out of ways to get my kids to run around the house so they waste some energy and don’t organize a mutiny…

Are you doing kitchen experiments? I used to give my kids a bowl of water and tell them to run around the house finding things that sink or float. When they came back with an electrical item (they always did) we talked about why that wasn't a good idea. And books. All sorts.

Another thing we did was an impulse bowl. I got them to write activities down on little bits of paper, folded them up and put them in the bowl. When they were unruly, they'd take a piece of paper and do whatever is on it.

Depends how old/what your kids are like. That could go horribly wrong. They can't write 'x needs to do y'. It needs to be something they all do

6 (sorry, almost 7 he’d kill me if I said 6) and 4 so the age difference is a lot when it comes to activities. We’ve taken up cooking and creating scavenger hunts, and when all else fails we just put on music and do “silly dancing"

Ah. Jumping jacks, find the smallest place in the house, how many things are purple in the house etc might work. Anyway, I’m sure you have a stack of these so I’ll stop. I have teenagers. It’s hard to get them out of their rooms.

These are all great! Thanks so much
I’ve added them to our “surviving lockdown” family list
Take care and stay safe
