I’m at this point too! I think after you have kids and see them enjoying everything in life inc food, (sometimes throwing it on the ground), it also places a magnifying glass on your own attitudes to food. I’ve been doing intuitive eating for a while and am so much happier for it
Weight loss is as simple (and complicated) as calories in vs calories out. You can eat more than you spend on any diet, and you can also eat less than you spend on any diet. It's all about finding what is easiest to do for you personally. For me, it was OMAD/IT.
