It’s true the market is evolving and more and more job descriptions are appearing for content related jobs in the UX field, however, companies are still struggling to differentiate marketing content from product content (episodes like this help )

I hope 2020 will be the year where job descriptions get better and companies understand what they need to get from a UX writer and stop masking copywriting roles as if writing roles

On our side as UX writers, we need to get better at helping other aspiring writers to get into the craft. We also need to help other design teams that don’t have writers understand the benefit of having one.

This is why as both @gordonmacray and @pdstafford state, it’s important we understand how we can show our company the ROI #uxwriting provides and help stakeholders understand that the craft goes beyond “quirky microcopy” and that it can be measured and it provides business value

There’s still a lot to be done for our discipline, but I’m happy to see more and more people are coming together to help the UX writing community grow.

You can also do something, be open to asking and answering questions over Twitter, go to meetups, grab a coffee with someone who’s changing careers into #uxwriting and point them in the direction of information to help them achieve that.
