On Friday, ASEs at University of Alaska filed for recognition of our union with the ALRA. We also delivered a letter asking for voluntary recognition of our union to the Office of the President.
If recognized, this would be a huge win not only for ASEs at the University of Alaska, but across the country: we are the only public R1/R2 university on the west coast that doesn't have an ASE union.
And yes, we did (accidentally) interrupt President Pitney's holiday party to deliver the letter and filing documents. And yes, we still grabbed some holiday cookies.
