I think it's weird to do painful and unnecessary surgery on a child's sex organ. Weird is one of the nice things I could say about it. #i2

Weird was the sight, not referring to the procedure. Is this a religious choice whether or not to circumcise? Why do parents choose to/or not to circumcise their child?
-
In the US most circumcision is not religious. In the mid 1800s masturbation was thought to be the cause of many illnesses, there's even joking wives tales that survived about that today, you'll grow blind, hairy palms etc, Back then less than one percent of all US men were cut >>
-
2> then the idea that it would prevent disease, because diseases were believed to be caused by over-stimulation of the nervous system at the time, so they cut off the most sensitive tissue of the penis, and made it harder to work the penis without that slack skin to glide, on >>
-
3> the shaft. Over time the illnesses it was thought to help prevent were all debunked, but the anti masturbation sentiment stayed around until the 1960s and 70s, but by then it was deeply part of the culture to cut boys, to mutilate them as infants, to be like dad.
-
As far as being a religious choice, what about the religious freedom of the child? More and more people are growing up to question and reject the faith their parents taught them, be that switching to another religion or becoming atheist. Doesn't the child deserve his freedom to>>
-
2> not have his parent's faith literally and permanently carved into his body if he doesn't decide to follow that faith when he grows up? The Bible does not dictate an age or date for circumcision, the Quran does not mention it at all, it's in the Hadiths along side female >>
-
3> circumcision, where Muhammad orders and instructs on both. Most Muslim circumcision world wide is done on children, not infants, at the average age of 7 years. Why can't both wait until the age of 16 or 18 or whatever age the culture says the child can legally consent?

When I was two days old a doctor strapped me down, gave me no anaesthetic (it's still barely done, it was never done because back then they wrongly thought infants couldn't feel pain, now they don't care much because they won't remember it and it takes longer) put a probe in >>
-
2> opening of my foreskin so he could tear apart the synechia which for years after birth is supposed to keep the foreskin and glans attached. It's similar to the tissue that keeps fingernails attached, so you can imagine how painful tearing it apart with a blunt probe would be>>
-
3> then he cut a slice down the underside of the foreskin, the opening is very tight on infants, and would be for years, too tight for him to put in the end of the clamp. The clamp was put in pressed against my glans, and the other end screwed on, putting tons of pressure on >>
-
4> the foreskin, cutting off the blood flow to it, so much pressure that the blood vessels would be crushed and fused closed, so it didn't bleed that much once they cut. Then came the main cut, slicing around the end of the clamp, and they took extra at the bottom from the >>
-
5> inner foreskin, cutting out the frenulum which science has shown to be the most sensitive part of the penis to touch, along with the ridged band, which is where the inner and outer foreskin connect, right at the tip. That's medical circumcision with a winklemann or gomco >>
-
6> clamp, which is slightly better than the Mogen because at least these two protect the glans, Mogen went out of business a decade ago due to lawsuits over damage to the glans, their clamps are still used. I would never have agreed to this, but no one cared what I wanted.
-
My parents aren't the ones who have to live with the results of that choice, my doctor doesn't have to live with the results of that choice, I do, it's my body they cut into, it's a piece of my body they cut off, and it is me who should be the only one who can tell them to do it.
