    My least favorite aspect of modern Apple are these dystopian hoops developers need to jump through (for web links!) presented as ”Privacy and Security” But only when Apple doesn’t get $. Pay 30% and link to any URL you like, open it in the app, pass user-specific params etc.

    Whether you agree or disagree with these changes, it’s a safe bet that people in Cupertino are brainstorming on the most hostile ways to comply with the requirements in the fewest possible places. Nobody wins in Apple’s battle to maintain the status quo as long as possible.

    This brings back fond memories of the PSP devkit. In addition to a foot pedal (!) it had a set of dip switches that games could read and turn debugging features on/off.

    Universal Control is an instructive example of the limitations of closed platforms like iOS. Other platforms have competitors in this area (ShareMouse, Synergy, etc) but iOS offers no form of API so the feature arrives if/when Apple wants it. And only between Apple devices.
