I've had some scares doing field work as a young woman in my own country, the Philippines (obv years ago). I had to escape my host family in the village bc one of the sons (with guns) took a liking to me. Once had to deal with incipient armed rebellion & ambushes. 1/2

As someone who was surrounded by a mob in rural Bihar and almost taken to jail while on a field scoping visit, because of religious connotations attached to the surname of my colleague, all I want for people to know is that 1/n twitter.com/cblatts/status…

A very important editorial for those of us working in intl development. We need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. I'm all for #equitableauthorship especially for tools & methods that are developed collaboratively.

Please read our editorial—written with @NASAdoc—on using the ICMJE authorship criteria for inclusion gh.bmj.com/content/6/10/e It accompanies an important 'Consensus statement on measures to promote equitable authorship in LMIC-HIC research partnerships' -publications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11

An excellent (long) thread from Amber Peterman on the evidence base for cash transfers. If you haven't been keeping up with the literature, this has lots of links to the papers. Congrats, !

OK—I’ll bite. While I agree with some of the points made in this thread—I disagree w/ the overall statement: “It's hard to conclude that cash transfers have a solid evidence base” There is certainly more than one way to read the evidence—so here’s my take: 1/n twitter.com/hendersonhl22/…

When we developed pro-WEAI, many thought we would never be able to capture things that mattered, eg women's mental health, well-being. We weren't trying to measure those bc there are well-developed scales. We're happy that pro-WEAI is strongly associated w/ stress & depression!

Paper out now: women's empowerment as measured by the pro-WEAI is associated with reduced stress + depression in Burkina Faso Thanks to the journal for a constructive + well-managed revision process! sciencedirect.com/science/articl cc: @agnesquis @HMalapit

This is why research has to be decolonized. ALL fields. I'm committed to this as an author and as an editor.

Filipino scientists are already first-authors in world-class studies even without being funded nor have the luxury of being taken seriously. This study left out Dr. Jo Marie Acebes, whose publication list can speak for itself: researchgate.net/profile/Jo-Mar
