what about the folks who aren't at fartbook looking to move up onto the world by working their ass off and proving themselves.

if we work for free we do direct harm to those who don't have the privilege to. (i wish it were a diff system, it's is not tho)

no material that i can use to sustain my life, so mostly money/food/drugs/housing/insurance/etc

if working on something takes time, i should at least get compensated to sustain my life during that time

this seems like...god help me...game theory. $$ incentives huge for individual devs to do free OSS work & prove oneself

nah. We have a pretty good "leave before 5pm, don't work a/h" culture, and I'd use this to back up why we should protect it.
