It’s difficult because you can’t know what AN would have made of Truss (mincemeat possibly) but the main problem I suspect is casual viewers will just have seen two men arguing testily & tuned out.

As century progresses technology will indeed solve many energy problems, including those related to climate change. Better to continue investment/development than rely on a wing and a prayer. That’s no basis for a sensible energy policy. We’ve already had too many insensible ones

And as I thought at the time — and little has changed — you’ll be depending on a gamut of technologies that don’t yet exist, or can’t yet be scaled or are a menu without prices. Plus there’s a litany of grid connection issues.

Hi Andrew, as I tried to explain years ago when we met: when there's no wind or sun we'll use a mix of dispatchable renewables (biogas, geothermal), interconnections, projects like @xlinks_uk, demand response, smart EV charging, pumped and thermal storage, hydrogen and nuclear.
