  1. Prikvačeni tweet

I started a new series on SOLID principles, where I present one in each video. Here is part 1: the single responsibility principle.

I was ready to roll my eyes for just another SOLID video. Gave it a chance. Was surprised. It *actually* mentions single responsibility does not mean single task. It also gives you method how to detect when code is split too much. Separate mapping files anyone? Ha

  3. If there is one thing that I learned in business, is that undercutting the competition only serves to make an unhealthy ecosystem for everyone. You want clients to choose you for your value, not shop for the cheapest deal.

  4. Success comes when instead of asking "can I achieve this?" you ask yourself "what will it take to achieve this?" This motto guided me ever since I was a child. I got here by having a vision, setting realistic intermediary objectives and not being afraid to try things.

  5. I spent all morning trying to figure out how to install all the undocumented dependencies for docker-sync, half of them failing to install due to undocumented steps or lack of a troubleshooting section.

  6. It's so tiresome when people post incomplete tutorials where it's supposed to "just work" with one command. So when it doesn't work, one can spend hours troubleshooting something that they know nothing about.

  8. The biggest improvement so far (3x faster) came from dialling down the level of expected consistency: Thank you and for bringing this to my attention. I'll keep looking at the other advice.

  9. Alright, so I got a few ideas of things to try. I'll experiment and post my findings.

  10. Docker is terribly slow on a Mac, to the point where I feel like I can't get anything done. My acceptance tests run as slow as a Pentium 1. Is there a solution to this problem other than switching to a PC?

  11. Actually, I'm wrong. EasyDNS not only listened, but had a productive conversation with me on the subject where I pointed the (obviously technical) person to various resources related to the issue that we discussed. That was the only time someone cared.

  12. Every time I contact a company in private to let them know about their security flaws, they completely dismiss me with some pre-canned response to try and appear smart and responsible. Like that time I told Visa that they force people to use weak passwords for their e-wallet.

  13. I even deleted my account. I'm tired of the industry thinking that such carelessness is acceptable.

  14. Yahoo! originally reported 1 Billion leaked accounts. The number was later revised to 3 Billion:

  15. What scale of humiliation does a company need to start caring about security?! I was going to renew my Flickr account, but not after seeing this. Perhaps losing all their customers and revenue might finally be the wakeup call.

  16. Leaking 3 Billion passwords in a massive data breach wasn't enough for Yahoo! to learn how to deal with passwords.

  19. If only the average PHP developer could see what their code looks like to a static analyzer, and how many bugs a few unit tests will inevitably uncover even in the most simple-looking code.

I am starting to follow your twitter account as I follow stand up comediants: for the sadistic humour of the tweets :))
