Yep. I have some papers under review but nothing like a normal year. This is supposed to be my sabbatical semester to work on a book that requires travel to (closed) archives. Well, I have some time now to write, so lucky me. But I am so exhausted from the last half year, that inspiration and energy are very difficult to find. And I am single without kids. So very sympathetic! Hope there will be work on rebalancing the inequity.

As someone from a funding agency but speaking only for myself: NCEs are easy, but supplements depend on available funds. Talk to PO? They can at least pass the word up the ladder. Others are probably in the same boat. POs should be sympathetic. We’re trying to manage, too.

And sorry about the situation faced by researchers. It’s tough for people who are in the vulnerable stages of their careers, and work-life balances are taking a beating.
