Emergency kits will help you be prepared for events that are more likely too: snowstorms, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. Be honest: you've talked about what you'd do during a zombie pandemic. Doesn't hurt to do a bit of preparation for a more mundane emergency. /5

Employers granting actual sick leave is so important. I wish I knew actual data about this, but I feel that the the combining of sick and vacation time into one entity encourages people to push through viruses that they then spread to their colleagues. Just seems dumb to me.

100% agree. And so many just have zero sick leave too. I don't know any hourly part-timers who get any sick time.
