What needs to be done for the Wuhan virus is to determine its virulence vs a known flu virus. The work done by the CDC in 2005 showed the reconstituted 1918 virus had 100 times the lethality in rat studies compared to a known flu virus. Why hasn’t this been done?

To be clear, 1) the novel coronavirus is a completely different family of virus from influenza viruses; and 2) I guarantee groups are working on comparative studies, but oftentimes it takes time for approval, especially animal-based studies as you suggest. 1/
