One of the latest antivax conspiracy theories: the government created & released #Lyme disease. You can imagine the comments thread.pic.twitter.com/YsJcwaVuqZ

Lyme is a latent chronic disease. And it doesn't have a high transmission rate. You basically need to have a tick stuck to you for 2 or 3 days. It's hard to think of a worse disease to try weaponize.

But... That's logical. Logic has no place in conspiracy theories.

Isn't part of this conspiracy that deer with the ticks on Plum Island swam across the LI Sound to CT? Silly deer, it's a quicker swim to LI

I've seen that claimed. There's a book on Plum Island so not sure if that's the source (haven't read it).

I love history books, especially on ID. I once picked up a conspiracy book about Lyme that talked about all of this. I was so confused for the first hr reading. Then I cross-checked the data, and threw that book away.

I have several of those that I keep as references. (Creationism/"intelligent design" books too). Sometimes just need to know what's being said by the deniers.

Little know fact. The infected ticks were released on an unsuspecting populace in a massive chemtrail shower. If only the sheeple knew about neutralizing the chemtrails by spraying vinegar. Wake up #sheeple!https://youtu.be/_NMgGLOw86E

Yes. And not the US, but historical use of entomological warfare. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/1135368.stm … Still, it's a large leap from "we released mosquitoes to track them" to "we created and released Lyme."

Could write a list of 10 studies demonstrating that Borrelia is 200 million years old (at least). Sorry, mine is one of them
