The "Spanish flu" of 1919 killed vast numbers of apparently fit young people.

Yep. And also was H1N1, as this man acquired (different strain though obviously). So many believe that because they're "young and healthy", flu won't hurt them and so they don't need the
#vaccine. Not always the case. - Show replies

Young and healthy is VERY subjective, glad he’s okay.

Yeah all I can think of is: show me a picture of him! I’ll believe his “young and healthy” status when I see it.

Just helped give a week-long Summer School course here on 1918 Flu. The endless stories of the young, productive fit parents who literally dropped dead...it’s a serious disease. Get vaccinated!!
-
In 1918 my aunt contracted the flu and diphtheria at the same time. She survived, but my grandparents would have paid anything to vaccinate their kids. Today all these diseases are preventable. Vaccines are safe and effective. Vaccinate you and your family.

DISCLAIMER: I believe strongly in vaccines. The flu vaccine makes me horribly ill. I've never understood why! I don't get flu *unless* I get vaccinated and then I'm down for weeks.
