This misses Arendt's concept of "thinking" as being the "two-in-one" dialogue (tied to Kant's moral imperative), which happens when we are in a state of solitude. If we have that dialogue, evil is averted as we cannot see the murderer in the mirror and continue to live.

But we are still left with dismaying existence of the "banality of the face of evil." That an evil like genocide cannot happen without the active help of many otherwise "normal" and "ordinary" people.
