By “Academic philosophy” the author presumably means “Analytical philosophy”, one can hardly claim that continental philosophy uses pure logic devoid of human experience and ‘soul’.

Also paradoxically the argument in the article is purely linguistic (culturally, historically and physiological embedded meaning of words used by normal people) which is a essentially just ‘ordinary-language’ philosophy of the ‘academic’ analytical school.
