An interesting piece. It seems to me that framing this as “the question” for which there is “an answer” is not the best starting point. Perhaps more modestly: the study of some philosophy can offer some worthwhile *lessons* for life. After all, wisdom has no algorithm.

I think that philosophy can help, but not in its current form. Or at least, it appears at times that philosophy's love for wisdom has been replaced with knowledge, and somewhere in this we have forgotten that we are of both mind and heart, that we think as much as we feel.

There is no point to our lives to be found other than send our genes on if we are able. We each have to find a way to give our lives meaning. Work, love and hope are all good candidates.
