@Susana_MonsO and I wanted to shine light on ethical arguments many people already accept and show how they also apply to the current rat research. The parallels are uncomfortable. The costs of rat research need acknowledging.

We aren’t going to have any research subjects left. Next it’ll be C. Elegan rights, they’ll retire HeLa cells, and we’ll just be guessing from pharmacokinetics to patient results. Rat rights used to be considered slippery slope territory, especially compared to rabbits/beagles.
