@Ex_Profundis reading a book at the moment called Trauma & Human Existence by Stolorow. Whilst a tough, dense 100 pages, it offers a pretty ace argument of trauma/angst being a fundamental part of human existence, and non-evasive owning/kinship being key to a good life. Check it!

I will look it up. These at recurring themes in Thomas Ligotti's writing too, particularly the idea that consciousness is a curse. But the interesting thing in this article for me was the idea that depressive thinking is an evolved trait - a way to deal with serious problems
