How is getting depressed about a break-up realistic? A realistic outlook on relationships would involve knowing that they can end at any time for many reasons and that you shouldn’t expect otherwise.

I think depressive realism is a genetic trait. We were born without rose colored glasses. Gets progressively worse with age.
