Sounds strange coz what's called "knowledge" in the article isn't what, in non-technical contexts, would be called "knowledge". What the article is really about is certainty (and reasonable practical approximations to it) + the counterintuitive nature of statistical inference.

Knowledge is precisely what would justify ur evolutionary just-so-story abt knowledge genealogy. How do u KNOW that statistics deliver more reliably truths than eyewitnesses? By statistical evidence or by eyewitness? In any case u'll have either circularity or self-defeatingness
