How about communal anything? I visit my mom for a holiday and everyone eats in a separate room with a portable DVD player, a phone, or in front of a TV while playing Xbox. Good luck getting strangers to bath together.

I long for a future where I just get to be suspended in a giant tube and sleep when I want to, and have food delivered at regularly scheduled intervals, and not have to talk to anyone.

Probably not. Korea and Japan are full of communal bathing places that are quite popular, but seem to still be quite alienated (in both their own and Western perceptions).
