Poll reporting tip: some polls are intended to be a representative sample of US registered voters, and others of all US adults. These are different groups of people, and the terms shouldn't be used interchangeably. (Any poll worth its salt should be v/ clear on sample universe.)

"Likely voters," of course is a whole separate ballgame -- unlike the other two, it inherently involves an attempt to imagine a population (voters in an upcoming election) that literally DOES NOT EXIST YET. Lots of ways of going about that, but all involve making some assumptions
