Is there an example anywhere in the history of the world where privatization of public services ever lowered costs and increased service levels?
This is not a rhetorical question, I genuinely want to know.

I mean it's obvious. Punching down is bad comedy. Conservatives basically love punching down.

I admit I just learned about "effective altruism" this month but, at the risk of being too on-brand, I have to say that "I need to make as much money as possible because only I know how to spend it right" is the most U S American attempt at "philosophy" I have ever seen

Someone has to say it: Elon Musk has lied for 27 years about his credentials. He does not have a BS in Physics, or any technical field. Did not get into a PhD program. Dropped out in 1995 & was illegal. Later, investors quietly arranged a diploma - but not in science. π§΅1/

Best thing Twitter did for the world in general was to allow anyone to yell directly at rich and powerful people, which drove many of them insane, including the richest guy on earth

Story to be updated soon with more: Am hearing that several βcriticalβ infra engineering teams at Twitter have completely resigned. βYou cannot run Twitter without this team,β one current engineer tells me of one such group. Also, Twitter has shut off badge access to its offices.

Again, thank you, Twitter (well, pre-November twitter). you have been SUCH AN ENORMOUS HELP (and, let's be honest, a *pain in the ass* in probably equal measure) to me over the ***FIFTEEN*** years I've been privileged enough to use your service. God, I'm gonna miss you.

For those of you keeping score, if 80% of the remaining staff is taking the severance deal, this means Twitterβs workforce is going from ~7500 to ~640 in less than a month. twitter.com/GergelyOrosz/s

shitty managers / CEOs *love love love love* visa workers. Love them. Lots of leverage over them. It's a sweet deal.

I meant it when I called Elon's latest ultimatum the first truly positive thing about this Twitter saga.
Because finally, everyone who had enough of the BS and is not on a visa could finally quit. Lots of the people staying are on visas btw.
