My work laptop, of which I've had two now, periodically refuses to register H or K key presses. I believe this is a conspiracy by my coworkers to try to get me to quit Vim. I will prevail.

I once had that problem with a Macbook (older generation). It turned out to be related to ALTITUDE, of all things. No problems at sea-level, but in Boulder and on an airplane, the Ctrl key was flaky at best.

Key membranes have some gas trapped inside them, so it kind of makes sense.
