    Ask them to clarify how it was they wanted you involved then. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding about what they needed from you?

    The point is not how they can remain the same, but how can they improve? No improvement is no progress. Once team members start identifying areas for growth, more will come on board, and you will be closer to the point where you can give your assessment.

    Not sure I fully grasp the issue, but my sense is that people can only learn when they are humble enough to admit they need to learn. If too proud to admit that, move on and put your effort where it will be appreciated.

    Always a tough one as you don't want to offend someone who is clearly defending their team, maybe ask them why they believe it's perfect? As Stephen Hawkings said " One of the basic rules of the universe is that Nothing is perfect. Perfection simply doesn't exist."
