yes this is my major problem with interview questions that require us to give intellectual property cause most orgs have no problem stealing it and you very rarely get the job
One thing I would love to see all editors think about more thoughtfully is the rhythm of sentences. If it's not grammatically incorrect (or whatever copyedit standard one is using) and it's clear the writer is writing for musicality, maybe don't change it to your preference?

for those who've written a non-linear lyric memoir, esp fragmented, etc., how do you "structure" it? I know that's kind of ironic, but do you write it as it comes, do you have a sense of the arc of certain sections, do you work from chronology or some sort of thematic idea?
I didnโt win the Shirley Jackson Award for Best Novel but I got this stone for being a finalist and a queer Asian person cried telling me what Unwieldy Creatures meant to them, better than any award. My heart is full.

In other words, it means you must be adaptable as an editor, & possibly more "hands-on" than you are w other writers. This is what it means to be accessible, but this is also what it means to prioritize disabled writers.
If youโre a yt writer noticing that innocent POC are getting harassed & stalked by a crew of young yt writers & editors w strangely substantial platforms, & DMing about how terrible they are, maybe consider speaking up instead. This isnโt a subtweet, just a pattern Iโm noticing.
i'm in a particularly depressive moment - usually they pass, but they still scare me. can i see moments of beauty, joy, pets, love, whatever usually lifts you up?

It's great, & necessary, to prioritize disabled writers, reviewers, etc., in your mags. But it's not enough to just decide that, & move forward. For example, working with disabled writers/editors might look like:
OH MY GOD TURNED IN MY EDITS TO THE EDITOR. Goes to publisher next! OOF WHEE ALL THE FEELINGS! Book two, baby, here we come! (PLEASE GIVE ME ALL THE GIFS)

Taking a piece that's been written using audio-text, which means more labor on your part to clean it up.
The way people are responding to this. Yโall realize she never actually judged anyone? That she was hired to help? That hundreds of reality shows with judges judging hard yaโll squeal about the โburnsโ? Many responses to her feel anti-Asian & you canโt convince me otherwise.
It's my three-year divorceversary, please clap for me for freeing myself of a sociopath and finding my way back to the truest of myself. (PSA ask before you congratulate on divorce, unless you know the way they feel about it, we all have deeply different experiences.)

it is truly stupefying to me that we actually have the resources to protect ourselves but just don't give a shit. i am not high risk. but i barely go anywhere, i don't eat indoors, i don't attend concerts (in or out) and if small events aren't masked. i don't go. period.

my father forbid us to travel w him to the funeral because of risk of SARS, and so he went alone. my stepmother also stayed home for the same reason. when my father returned, he quarantined at home for two weeks, taking more time off from work (he worked at NASA so no small feat)
I wish there was a zoom cooking class for people never taught to cook, or don't have the skills to teach themselves, so they could learn 25-50 simple recipes to sustain themselves. All made w simple ingredients, adaptable re eating restrictions, w tools you have or can acquire.
One thing I didnโt expect during AAPIA month was to be called a eugenicist bigot by a yt person who barely knows me so if you could throw me some love and affirmation my way I would very much appreciate it. Damn people can be a lot.

I was super thrilled to learn that I was one of 22 finalists out of 800 entries for the 2021 Colorado Prize for Poetry! It was my first year in a long time sending this baby out, and it definitely helps me to keep on keepin on.

My controversial writing opinion that shouldn't be controversial: if a man (or anyone really) has abused his power to prey on vulnerable writers, I will never give a shit how good his writing is or continue to read or promote or teach it.
I know itโs a form rejection but being told by l*th*b that my pitch based on my tweet on how editors can support disabled writers โisnโt quite right for usโ is a bit on the nose.

I got divorced at height of pandemic & had to leave everything, quickly, bc ex wasn't safe. A friend convinced me to create a divorce registry & it was the first time I'd truly asked for help. Friends & also people on socials I'd never met sent me things. It was incredible.๐ญ
