My cousin's color blind. So is my uncle. They couldn't differentiate the colors on a traffic signal. I could. So my family thought I'm fine. Turns out I got another version of it. One where my eyes don't absorb enough red. Which means I can't see the red in purple.

I'm thinking back to every single instance in my life where I was like.. "Huh. Is that purple or is that blue?"

Turns out there are glasses by enChroma which solve this. They cost ~24-30k which seems OK. I'll get them eventually. Guess I now have an excuse to learn more about eyes and how they work. My mom's definitely getting a phone call from me later today.

I found out many years back when I had trouble differentiating shades of various colors. It sucks while designing coz colors which seem on the mild side to me are brighter to others. I always have to either follow a specific palette or verify with friends if colors aren’t off.

Oh, I guess that's one way of dealing with it. Ever thought of trying the https://enchroma.com/ glasses?
