    Setting aside personal political preferences for a second. Just on the basis of simple fact. Imagine if Labour had a leader who wasn’t Corbyn. Basically anyone else. They’d be 30 points ahead by now. We’d be looking at a 1997 scale Labour majority.

    Scratching my head at the idea that the motive of those handing info to the press is of any relevance in determining whether it’s news. I mean, I’ve had loads of dodgy stuff given to me by politicians and they certainly weren’t doing it out of the goodness of their f***** hearts

    This is an important (and very short) thread about the Boris incident. I’ve also been really surprised by how many people in the UK on all political sides seem to not understand the free press and why newsworthy things are newsworthy.

    I’m surprised I have to explain this to journalists, but here goes, a short thread on and privacy...

    Estonian soldiers in Africa will have an unusual midsummer night: The sky will be fully dark, the night will be twice as long and — strangest of all — it won’t be raining. They will still have a sauna though.

    They may be six months early. The archeological evidence suggests Stonehenge was actually used mostly for the winter solstice. Animal bones left from feasts there give away clues that they died in winter.

    The next stage of choosing the new UK Prime Minister depends on the postal service, which will take TWO WERKS to deliver paper ballots to a small number of voters. I hope there’s nothing particularly urgent on the British government’s to-do list.
