I’m not going to get into a discussion of whether anthropogenic global warming is a threat to us. Any reasonable assessment of the scientific consensus bears that out. Institutions that need to look to the future without bias already factor climate change into their calculations.

Reserve banks, investment banks, economic forecasters, insurance companies, emergency services. All factor climate change into their calculations, and none agree with the anonymous blokes online who want to argue about medieval warming periods.

The climate is in a constant state of flux. No one denies that. Humans have been very poor at predicting climate changes. And these bushfires were primarily caused by arson and exacerbated by lack of backburning and fuel load management. That’s where the focus must be.

If 97% of mechanics told you that your brake lines were stuffed, you wouldn't ignore them. You'd take action, because they're the experts. Why doesn't this apply to climate scientists? Or fire chiefs? In this case, they're they're the experts.

The voting public aren't the experts. If 97% of mechanics told you that there was a problem with your brake lines, you wouldn't put it to a public vote to see if you should get it fixed. Why does this principle not apply to climate scientists? Or fire chiefs?
